Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel holds a singular place in Hawai'i's hospitality history, having been originally planned and developed by Laurence Rockefeller. This renovation approached both the Main Tower and Beach Wing as complete refurbishments — stripping each space back to its essential architecture while honoring the property's legacy. The existing tile and terrazzo flooring, original to the hotel, was retained as the one physical thread connecting past to present. Every other element was reconceived: all-new, bespoke furniture was designed and specified for each tower individually, tailored to the distinct guest experience of the Main Tower versus the more intimate, beachfront character of the Beach Wing.

The Spa at Mauna Kea was conceived as a destination in its own right — a dedicated wellness campus rather than a single amenity. The program spans a full range of personalized spa treatments alongside a newly envisioned Fitness Center, with an Adult Pool experience designed to extend the sense of restorative retreat outdoors.
